This in-person event will take place in the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, providing a unique setting for making valuable connections, and providing us with the opportunity to support this amazing charity.

We are delighted to welcome Dominic Dowling and Bruce Harley. Dominic is Group Manager of the Business Growth Team in Glasgow City Council’s Economic Development division. He leads a team of experienced advisers who support new and existing businesses — including social enterprises and co-operatives — to start up, grow and thrive.

Working closely with partners across the public, private, academic and third sectors, the team connects businesses with the resources they need to launch and scale successfully. Dominic led the delivery of the city’s first Green Business Support programme, designed to help local SMEs reduce their carbon footprint, build climate resilience and move towards net zero.

He was Programme Manager for Glasgow’s participation in the Harvard Bloomberg Innovation Track; following this, his team is currently delivering the city’s first Social Innovation Challenge Fund, aimed at breaking down the systemic barriers to entrepreneurship that exist for underrepresented groups.

Dominic previously worked in the Leader’s Office as a Policy Officer and as an Adviser to the Leader of the Council. He is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and lives in the city with his family.

Following a career in hospitality management, Bruce joined Braehead Shopping Centre in 2004 initially to run the leisure facilities and later moved on to an operational role managing the soft services teams.

Eight years ago he took up the position of Centre Manager at Xsite Braehead and has steered the property through a transitional phase, losing a ski slope and gaining some exciting new tenants along the way.

Bruce will talk about the next and most crucial stage of development at Xsite and how losing an anchor tenant turned into an opportunity that will see a world first in Renfrew.
