Stuart Dougal will be our guest speaker. He has lots of experience in being ready for any situation, so lots to relate to!

Stuart began his career with Strathclyde Regional Council in 1979, where he established a Money Advice service to support individuals in debt, particularly those on low incomes or affected by illegal money lending. He went on to join Arthur Young (now EY), where he built the firm’s personal insolvency practice and later moved into corporate recovery. He then spent over two decades at KPMG, working with a restructuring team to build a strong network and help businesses in financial difficulty to restructure or avoid insolvency. Since 2022, he has run his own consultancy, advising long-term business contacts on restructuring, raising finance, and private equity transactions.

Alongside his business career, Stuart was a distinguished football referee. After qualifying in 1985, he rose through the ranks to become a FIFA referee in 1996, officiating 12 Old Firm matches, 13 Edinburgh derbies, and two Scottish Cup finals. Internationally, he refereed in 38 countries, overseeing more than 100 matches and serving as 4th Official at Euro 2004 and the 2002 UEFA Super Cup.

He and his wife, Barbara, enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren, and when time permits, he tries to improve his golf handicap, though not as often as he’d like.
