Annual Burns Lunch
The House For An Art Lover
Tuesday 22nd January 2013
Club President Norman Ferguson extended a warm welcome to 89 members and guests to our ever popular Burns Lunch held again this year in the House for an Art Lover with the grounds of Bellahouston Park.
Pupils from Govan High School performed a musical recital during a very infomal drinks reception in the foyer.
Piper Iain Whyte, Head Teacher of Govan High School then accompanied the haggis into the main banqueting hall to an upstanding audience.
Our very own Grace Franklin gave her usual splendid recital of ‘Address to a Haggis’.
Our Guest speaker this year was Len Murray
Len delivered an excellent “Immortal Memory” to Robert Burns. His comedic timing coupled with his obvious passion for the subject gave his audience a welcome insight into Robert Burns the man and his work. Len used the poets own words to great effect and made this lunchtime event a privilege to attend.
“Well done to the Business Club for organising a fantastic lunch yesterday, it was excellent. The food was lovely and the speakers were very entertaining.”
—Jennifer Wiseman, Abercrombie Gemmell
