Club President John Stevenson extended a warm welcome to all 70 members and guests to our 28th Annual General Meeting held in the Ibrox Suite, Ibrox Stadium.

Our guest speaker Bob Bain has arguably the best job in the world, the keeper of thousands of memories of the doyens of variety and song in Scotland. He is the secretary of The Scottish Music Hall & Variety Theatre Society. Don’t be misled by the title of the Society. It covers all entertainment from music hall to present day.

Bob is a man of many talents, he also puts together and edits the Society’s magazine, STAGEDOOR, which goes out to 280 members, approximately 200 of which are here in Scotland and the rest overseas and the rest of the UK.

Bob would love to see interest in Variety Theatre from the younger generation, “It would be a wonderful thing as I am sure many of them watch ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ which is basically a variety show.
