Paul Connelly, the visionary CEO of Connelly Security Systems (CSS), has forged an inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming a stalwart figure in the security industry. Hailing from a bustling family of ten siblings and nurtured in the vibrant city of Glasgow, Paul’s early years laid the foundation for his unyielding determination.
Despite not pursuing formal national exams, Paul’s insatiable curiosity led him to the realm of alarm engineering. In 1979, he embarked on his career journey as an apprentice engineer, swiftly mastering the intricacies of installations before donning the role of a service engineer.
In 1986, armed with £4k in savings and an £8k bank overdraft, Paul joined forces with his elder brothers Pat and Jim Connelly to start CSS. This audacious move marked the inception of a transformative era in the Scottish security market. CSS garnered national accreditation from NSCIA and achieved the pioneering distinction of being the first independent firm in Scotland to secure the coveted Investor in People and BS5750 certifications.
Today, CSS stands tall with a dedicated workforce of 165, offering a comprehensive range of security solutions and operating a 24-hour alarm receiving centre. Paul’s astute leadership has seen CSS execute over 50,000 installations, elevating the company’s status to an industry leader with branches spanning Scotland.
Paul Connelly’s visionary acumen extends beyond the confines of CSS. He has orchestrated over thirty acquisitions since 1996, deftly navigating diverse scenarios from owner succession planning to business rescue formats. This distinctive ability to navigate business landscapes attests to Paul’s innate leadership prowess.
