November Meeting – The Tall Ship at Riverside

Glasgow Business Club November Meeting

The Tall Ship

Tuesday 20th November

Club President Norman Ferguson extended a warm welcome to all members and guests of the club who joined him at this unique venue.

The Tall Ship ‘Glenlee’ offers an exceptional combination of 19th century charm with modern facilities. The atmospheric surroundings evoke dramatic images of a life at sea.

She is one of only 5 Clyde built sailing ships that remain afloat in the world and she was restored over a six year period by the Clyde Maritime Trust’s paid and voluntary crew.

The evening commenced with a drinks reception at 5.30pm where guests network informally,

This was then followed by a two course buffet supper.

Our guest speakers were:

Duncan Cunningham,Chairman of Clyde Maritime Trust who spoke about the history of the Tall Ship and it’s journey since it first took to the water in 1896.

And to round offf the evening

Victor Brierley

Victor has a deep passion for, and an extensive knowledge of whisky. He spoke of the history of our national drink and why there are over 5000 different whiskies available, each with its own unique nose and flavour.

And we all had the opportunity to taste some beautiful single malts.

Comments on the evening:
